Querida Nicaragua

A Central American-inspired surface pattern design collection.

From 2012-2013 I lived in Nicaragua as a missionary where I marveled natural surroundings, learned Spanish and learned to love the people of Central America.

This pattern collection is an homage to the culture, nature and people of Nicaragua and serves as a physical form of recollecting my special memories as a missionary.

These patterns not only have personal stories and experiences attached to them, but can be applied to products, fabrics and more and will be available to license upon completion.

Gathering
Inspiration

I pulled out the contents of my mission memory bin and dove into my hard drive full of photos from that season. My brain skimmed through its own memory bank of people, places and everyday objects I saw and experienced.

I gathered and photographed the pressed flowersI collected and placed between the pages of my books and journals.

I called on friends and companions for additional ideas and references.
